Program Activities
Students participating in the Tools for Success program will be engaged in various activities both in and outside of the classroom setting.  These activities are designed not only to build on the academic inventories of our students, but to provide exposure to the scientific community, create a sense of camaraderie, and to broaden social awareness.   The following is an abbreviated list of program activities:

  • Science Forums

  • Business Etiquette/Protocol Training

  • Academic Mentoring

  • Field Trips

  • Service Learning Exercises

  • Movie Nights

In addition to the activities listed above, TFS students are highly encouraged to participate in research experiences for undergraduates offered at various national laboratories and other institutions of higher learning.  During the last two years of the programs existence, nine TFS students were selected to participate in prestigious summer research projects.  A few of these projects were sponsored by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the US Department of Energy.
