The Tools for Success program will award ten $2000 transfer scholarships to promising students in the fields of science, technology, engineering or mathematics who are active in the Tools for Success program at Miami Dade College.
Eligibility Requirements
- You must be an active participant in good standing in the Tools for Success program at the time of application and award (If you are on probation you will not be eligible).
- You must receive your Associate of Arts degree in a STEM field no later than the end of the Summer 2012 semester.
- You must be transferring to a four year institution and begin enrollment by Fall, 2012. Funds will be transferred to your institution in Fall, 2012.
- You must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0; grades and recommendations from faculty in STEM-related courses will be considered heavily in the review process. The selection committee will also review your most recent TFS Progress Report.
Application Checklist
- A completed application (click here for application). Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Two completed Recommendation Forms
- One must come from a STEM instructor, TFS mentor or IDS/PSC instructor.
- The other may come from any other MDC instructor.
- TFS Transfer Scholarship Committee members may not write recommendations.
- A two page max, 12pt font, double-spaced essay addressing both of the following prompts:
- What challenges have you overcome that make you a good candidate for the STEM success transfer scholarship?
- What are your greatest strengths and areas that need the most improvement for you to succeed in the upper-division as a STEM student?
- A current MDC degree audit. Highlight all STEM courses including Tools for Success IDS & PSC courses.
